Trailer safety certificates & repairs

Trailers with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of 0.751-3.50 tonnes (t) require a safety certificate (previously known as 'roadworthy inspections' or 'roadworthies' for short) in order to be sold second hand.

We regularly service and inspect trailers and count ourselves as experts in this area. For an efficient and high quality service at a great price, bring your trailer into our workshop in Sumner.

From 1 September 2021, vehicle owners are no longer required to obtain and display a safety certificate before a vehicle is offered for sale. This includes when a vehicle is offered for sale on a dealer's lot, advertised online, or a 'for sale' sign is displayed on the vehicle.

It is still a requirement for the seller to obtain a safety certificate before disposing of a vehicle. Penalties may apply if a safety certificate is not obtained before selling a registered vehicle.

Failure to acquire and display a valid safety certificate when disposing of a trailer can result in a $550 fine. A safety certificate is valid for 2 months from issue or 2000km, whichever comes first.

Aside from selling your trailer, you may want to get a trailer inspection for other reasons including repairs and maintenance and general safety inspection. We can help you with inspections as well and also do any repairs or servicing that is required.

Our workshop is located in Sumner and we also serve many customers in the surrounding areas including; Jindalee, Sumner Park, Mt Ommaney, River Hills, Middle Park, Jamboree Heights, Oxley, Darra, Forest Lake, Richlands, Inala, Wacol, Carol Park, Durack, Galies, Goodna and Seventeen Mile Rocks.
